THE TRIP IS OCT 20 TO 30 2010 AT LIMON CLINIC, LIMON, HONDURAS
NEED ONE DOCTOR, LAB TECH, DENTIST AND PHARMACIST
WE are a Mission Team from First United Methodist Church in Lakeland,Fl. Our team goes to the Limon Clinic with a medical group, construction group and sewing group.
Limon, Colon, Honduras
History - Dr. Henry W. Gibson has made many mission trips to Honduras. In 1995 he made his first trip to the remote village of Limon, an area without health or dental care. When he returned home to Barnwell, Sc, he told his friends about these very poor people with no access to health/dental care. Thus began the Carolina Honduras Health Foundation and the "birth of a clinic."
Money was raised and the land purchased. Dr. Gibson thought it was important to build a clinic that would be nice enough for teams to want to return year after year. The clinic was completed in March 1997. To date, approximately 19 all-volunteer teams staff the clinic each year with the exception of November, December, and January, which is the rainy season.
First Floor of the Medical/Dental Clinic
a. Three or four exam rooms —some teams use one room for triage
b. Small lab - excellent local lab tech
c. Large pharmacy - each team supplies own medications
d. Small surgical suite
e. Office/records room with exterior sign-in window
f. Waiting room
g. Three-chair dental clinic - can perform most dental procedures except x-rays. The clinic is equipped with chairs, lights, three dental units, air, suction, two
autoclaves, curing lights, amalgamator, handpieces, titan scaler and prophy supplies. We have added the capability of doing endo treatment on teeth 6-11 and 22-27. Although we do not have access to x-ray equipment, we have purchased a Root ZX to determine canal length. We will use the E Z fill system. All supplies will be there but you may want to bring your own endo cement due to the short shelf life. Also bring your own IRM, dycal and bonding for composites because they do not hold up well in Honduras.
h. Laundry room

Note: Exam rooms, lab, pharmacy and dental clinic are all air-conditioned.
